How we preserve flowers:

At For Keeps Florals, we spend time honing our flower preservation process every day. We have pressed almost every type of flower over our many years of practice, and over that time have learned which techniques work best for which flowers. Most commonly, we use a combination of microwave press and traditional book type with different time durations for each flower type. We talk a ton about the different flower preservation methods in our Ultimate Guide To Flower Preservation, take a look there is you want to know EVERYTHING about flower preservation!

First, each flower is inspected for mold or rot that could spread during the process, and cleaned up for pressing. We always ask to receive your flowers within 5-7 days of your event, and before they’ve started to die or deteriorate; this is also why it’s important protect your flowers before shipping them, and follow our shipping instructions closely.

Next, we trim the flowers to the correct thickness and stem length, and shape them to represent your bouquet’s aesthetic. This part is also important in eliminating mold risk, but removing too much can ruin the flower! Most flowers are processed in the microwave press, and each type of flower for specific time intervals. Getting this part right is how we make pressed flowers that keep their color. Then, all flowers are placed in a traditional flower press for 4-6 weeks, where they are thoroughly dried and pressed before being framed. Our preservation methods preserve color exceptionally well, so we don’t have to use any dyes or chemicals to make your flowers vibrant or hearty. Finally the fun part - making your pressed flower frame! It takes a few hours of work to get here to say the least, but it’s worth the time now. We remake your bouquet in a floating style clear frame, and guarantee you’ll love the results! The 11” x 15” pressed flower frame and 16” x 20” pressed flower frame fit pressed wedding bouquets best, while the 8” x 10” pressed flower frame fits smaller items - boutonnieres, flower crowns, and corsages - and our 20” x 24” pressed flower frame is reserved for large, sprawling bouquets and custom floral displays.

We can make any size and shape frame and would love to help you create a pressed flower art design!

About Our Frames:

We offer a variety of flower preservation options to fit any floral design and every budget. Our two smaller sizes are cheaper because they use a manufactured metal frame with a plastic backing insert. They have a glass front and flexible acrylic backing.

Our two larger frames and all other custom options including the square and round options feature custom wood frames with UV protective acrylic. Learn about why we choose glass for large pressed flower frames and other flower pressing tips by checking out our blog.
