How to Choose the Best Flowers for Preservation

Not all flowers preserve the same! When it comes to wedding flower preservation and pressed flower frames, choosing the right blooms is essential to ensure vibrant and long-lasting pressed flowers, and choosing the wrong flowers may necessitate replacing more delicate blooms so they can be pressed while they’re super fresh. We don’t recommend you change any special floral plans just to accommodate flower preservation, but if you’re flexible or just want the most perfect pressed bouquet possible, we definitely have some good tips for choosing the right flowers for your bouquet.

  • Choose hearty flowers

  • Work with a local flower supplier if possible

  • Make sure your flowers are fresh and healthy on your big day

  • Keep them on water and in a cool place after your event

  • If you choose delicate flowers, know that some may need to be replaced

Still, it’s important to start with the right floral recipe if you want your pressed bouquet to really stand out. Here's a guide to flowers you can use in your wedding that preserve really well, and consistently make some of our favorite pressed flower frames:

Most greens and foliage preserve well, so use anything you like. Round eucalyptus looks great and has a nice flat profile, while some greens and foliage like succulents and berries can be difficult to fit into smaller pressed flower frames. For the most part though, choose anything you like. For our larger frames, we can adjust the depth as deep as necessary, so literally choose anything you want in there!

So when you’re selecting flowers for pressed flower frames in wedding flower preservation, opt for blooms with sturdy petals, vibrant colors, and a timeless appeal. Roses, lavender, daisies, baby's breath, peonies, and forget-me-nots are just a few excellent choices that will ensure your pressed flower frame captures the beauty and sentiment of your special day for years to come. Remember, not all flowers are available all the time! Check out our guide on flower availability across the seasons for help choosing preservation friendly blooms no matter the season.
